Opening Ceremonies, beginning at 6:45 p.m. will feature a pageantry of flags, costumes, music, dancing and more. The Nordic Fest Grand Marshal and Flag Recipient will officially be named.
That evening Food booths will be open and Water Street will be closed to vehicles. Canopies will be full of musical entertainment and the streets will be buzzing with fun!
The fun continues on Friday! Entertainment canopies will begin activity at 11 a.m. Food booths will tantalize your taste buds, Vesterheim Museum is a must-see! Don't forget the Arts & Crafts Show at the Decorah Middle School.
This year, step aboard the brand new Decorah Trolley as it takes you to destinations around the Fest including Vesterheim, Arts and Craft Show and entertainment areas. The Troll Walk will also be returning for another fantastic adventure among Decorah's pesty trolls.
Friday evening you'll want to head to Canopy 5 for entertainment that will rock you, cold refreshments, lots of dancing, and loads of laughs. Kick the night off at 5 p.m. with the Jim Busta Band with Mollie B followed by El Caminos. Bring all your friends! ($5 cover charge)
SaturdayWake up in time for the Elvelopet 5 and 15K race (7:30 a.m.). Hundreds of people will gather for this fest favorite!
Lawn chairs will start to fill the sidewalks gearing up for the Grand Parade at 10:30 a.m. This is a fest event NOT to be missed!
Once the parade wraps up, it's time for more entertainment! Canopies are filled again with bands, jugglers, puppet shows, and more. Don't miss the Bunad Show at 2 p.m. at Hotel Winneshiek. It's a great time to cool down in the beautiful Steyer Opera House.
Last year's Saturday entertainment line up included: Foot-Notes, Absolute Hoot, Bread 7 Butter, Rochester Accordions, Eden Ehm, CBB Jaz Combo and more!
If you need a break from downtown, check out the Decorah Garden Club Tours, or visit an area attraction or hop on the new Trout Run Trail for a bike ride.
Be sure to be back at Canopy 5 for more entertainment starting at 5 p.m. with Gaelstorm followed by Audio Drive til midnight. Everyone will love this band! They play anything and everything that will get the crowd moving and dancing! Cold drinks will be available. ($5 cover charge applies)
At 10 p.m. the night's sky will light up with a beautiful Fireworks Display.
